The main goal of the Project was to create a unified infrastructure of open data for the preservation and cataloging of digital content for the Region of Crete, as well as a comprehensive infrastructure for the acquisition and distribution of content by end users using crowd sourcing techniques. Additionally, the platform incorporated a suitable content licensing system and allowed its dissemination and distribution both to local entrepreneurship and to public bodies and citizens.
Goal 1: Analyze user requirements related to the developing system and design the system initially as a collection of UI Mock-ups for its interface components, following the process of human-centered design. Through iterative evaluation, the goal is to generate the final design solution. Additionally, to define the functional characteristics of the system at an architectural level based on user requirements, use cases, and design solution to ensure that the Project will utilize appropriate technologies and connections between them.
Goal 2: Create multiple subsystems for the open data infrastructure:
Internal content management and cataloging subsystem. User roles and authorization subsystem for entities. Subsystem for license issuance requests for content. Licensing - authorization subsystem regarding interoperability services. Search and navigation subsystem for digital content for end users, entities, and businesses.
Goal 3: Develop crowd sourcing infrastructure for collecting open data from entities, citizens, user communities, and visitors of Crete.
Goal 4: Ensure interoperability of subsystems and achieve optimal system operation to produce a final, commercially exploitable product.
